A founding member of Detroit’s legendary techno collective Underground Resistance, Jeff Mills left the group in the early nineties to continue as a solo artist. As a conceptual artist, he has often looked to Sci-Fi and Afro-Futurism as a source of inspiration – he has soundtracked silent Sci-Fi classic A Trip To The Moon and NTS’ radio adaptations of the 1960s TV series The Outer Limits in collaboration with NASA.
Tomorrow Comes The Harvest project started in 2016 with late Tony Allen, one of the originators of AfroBeat and Jeff Mills to get together to create an improvisational type of performance. The idea was to not pre-prepare or to preplan anything, but just to play in the moment spontaneously and to reach for the same understanding musically. Following the death of Allen in 2020, the group now consists of Mills, Indian tabla player Prabhu Edouard and Guyanese keyboardist Jean-Phi Dary who was also part of the original TCTH duo. A new live LP Evolution is out via Axis Records. It’s a blissful jazz/techno odyssey, the accumulative effort of talented musicians - each belonging to a long tradition of exploring the unknown by intersecting sounds and rhythm through an array of improvisational movements.
The highlights of the ongoing Tomorrow Comes The Harvest European tour include London's Barbican Centre, Berlin's Theater des Westens and Dublin's National Concert Hall.
Special guests of the concert are Estonian musician Maarja Nuut together with Swiss drummer Nicolas Stocker.
