Glasperlenspiel Music Festival

Jubilate! This year’s festival celebrates several important anniversaries. As Glasperelenspiel in Tartu can be considered a direct descendant of the festival that satrted off in Pärnu in 1995, we have every reason to celebrate a respectable 30th birthday of the annual event. However, the afore-mentioned is only the beginning followed by several acclaimed Estonian composers reaching significant signposts in their life journey: Märt Matis Lill is getting 50, the world famous Arvo Pärt 90 and the festival’s artistic director, composer Peeter Vähi will celebrate his 70th birthday. And what festivities can get by without a proper waltz? Hence as a stylistic diversion we will also give floor to the immortal sounds created by the Waltz King Johann Strauss Junior on the occasion of the anniversary of 200 year from his birth. The festival will be proud to feature stars like Hans Christian Aavik, Kristiina Poska, Andres Mustonen, Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta, Kremerata Baltica, Johan Randvere, Wiener Kammersymphonie, Rémi Boucher and Barrocada to name just a few.
