In Flames - Europe 2025 + Jinjer & Unprocessed
On June 2, 2025, Swedish metal legends In Flames will unleash their signature sound at Noblessneri Valukoda in Tallinn. Pioneers of melodic death metal and architects of the New Wave of Swedish Death Metal, In Flames are set to deliver a night of electrifying energy, blending classics with powerful tracks from their latest album, “Foregone”, alongside fan favorites from their decades-spanning career. Joining them as special guests are Jinjer, the Ukrainian metal phenomenon, and Unprocessed, an innovative German progressive metal band.
In Flames consists of five musicians: Anders Fridén (vocals), Björn Gelotte (guitar), Chris Broderick (guitar), Liam Wilson (bass) and Tanner Wayne (drums). Since their formation in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1990, In Flames has become a pillar of modern metal, shaping the genre with their blend of aggressive riffs, melodic hooks, and dynamic songwriting. Their ability to evolve while staying true to their roots has earned them legions of devoted fans worldwide.
Their 14th studio album “Foregone” (2023) marks a return to the band’s heavier sound, merging their signature melodic death metal with fresh, energized songwriting. Reflecting on the album, vocalist Anders Fridén says: “In a way, it sounds stupid to say we wanted to be more ‘metal,’ because we always felt that we were. Over the last couple of years, the world became even more hostile and evil in certain ways. We have a war in Europe. People, in general, are more stressed. All of that energy and anger helped fuel this album. We went in to make something on point, heavier, and yes, ‘more metal.’”
“We made an aggressive album,” adds guitarist Björn Gelotte. “We kept the dynamics, some big epic choruses, heavy guitars, lots of kick drums, and melodies. That’s who we are and who we’ve always been.”
The album channels themes of lost time and societal unrest. “This album is about lost time. Everything is going in the wrong direction. We can’t make up for the lost time. That’s why the album is called “Foregone”. We’re destined to end. That realization creates different emotions – panic, frustration, fear,” elaborates Fridén. “‘Scary’ isn’t a horror movie or an angry metal guy screaming. The real horror is what’s going on in the news from around the world. We are basically doomed. The album is about the few moments we have left and what we do with them.”
Over the years, In Flames has earned their reputation as a live powerhouse, headlining major festivals and sharing the stage with metal legends like Slipknot, Megadeth, Judas Priest, and Lamb of God. Fridén reflects on their success: “Sometimes you’re loved, sometimes you’re not, but we always pushed ourselves and created the music we felt was awesome.”
Gelotte echoes the sentiment: “It’s impossible to please everybody. So the most important question to ask is always, ‘Do we like it?’ If I didn’t like the music we play, I couldn’t believe in it. It’s a lot of time away from family. I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t love it. That’s why we’ve been able to do it for such a long time; because we actually enjoy what we do.”
Opening the night will be Unprocessed, whose progressive sound has captivated modern metal audiences. Ukrainian band Jinjer, known for their dynamic fusion of metalcore and groove metal, will take the stage as special guests, further amplifying the energy.
Prepare for a night of melodic death metal, unparalleled energy, and a celebration of one of metal’s most enduring bands. In Flames promises a live experience that will resonate with fans long after the final note.
